January 2014

Two-canal walk slated Jan. 26
The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will conduct a free walk along two canals, the D&R Canal and the Delaware Canal, on Sunday, Jan. 26.

Meet 2 p.m. at the caboose behind the Lambertville Station restaurant, 11 Bridge St., for this 2-mile guided walk.

See the lift lock and the outlet lock on the D&R Canal and learn how canal boats crossed the river from New Hope to Lambertville.  Enjoy the vistas while crossing the bridge to New Hope and then follow the Delaware Canal towpath to Lock 11 and its locktender’s house where hot chocolate and cookies will be offered.

Canal Watch board member Bob Barth will conduct the walk, which is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Delaware Canal.
For further information and weather-related updates, call Mr. Barth at 201-401-3121 or e-mail barths@att.net.
