"Washington Ups the Anti" - Narrated Bus Tour
Saturday, December 28, 2013
Departing:
  - from the Van Horne House, Bridgewater:  8:30 am
  - from Washington Crossing State Park, Visitor Center: 9:30 am

Washington’s bold crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night 1776 is an oft-told tale of a midnight march through a winter storm and a dawn attack on a sleeping garrison at Trenton. His riskier gamble four days later, again crossing the river to deliberately provoke a second Battle of Trenton against the full force of the British Army, is a story many have not heard.
The Heritage Trail Association and the Crossroads of the American National Heritage Area are co-sponsoring a narrated bus tour that will visit the scenes of battle and follow the route of the Centennial Army during those “Ten Crucial Days.”
The tour will depart form the historic Van Horne House in Bridgewater, 941 East Main Street, and stop first at the visitor center at Washington Crossing State Park where participants will have the option to join the tour. The tour will then proceed to Trenton to visit the battle sites and then follow the army’s route to the Princeton Battlefield. After a buffet lunch at the historic Nassau Inn in Princeton, the tour will visit Kingston, Millstone and finally Pluckemin. The bus will drop off the Bridgewater participants at the Van Horne House and make a final stop at Washington Crossing State Park.
Space is limited and reservations with pre-payment is required.  Reservations may be made online, or by calling 732-356-8856. No refunds will be given after December 1.
Price: $65 including lunch.
Time: approximately 8 hours

  • Interprets the natural and cultural heritage of the destination to visitor; and
  • Lends itself better to independent travelers, as well as to organized tours for small size groups.
Eco-heritage tourism is generating renewed interest because visitors can enjoy the resources and environment of preserved and protected areas. In this Franklin Township Map, the resources are grouped into the following themes:
