The Rockingham renactment will done.
Rockingham
Saturday, September 10 - 4 pm This Reenactment has not been canceled
The militia is coming! Captain John Outwater's Company of the Bergen County Militia Regiment will visit Rockingham Historic Site for a militia encampment and trade fair. This unit will reenact camp life, with soldier tents and gear displays as well as open-fire cooking. There will be a medical and herb display, because being sick or wounded was part of a soldier's life. There will be children's drills and musket-firing demonstrations. Because families often traveled with soldiers, domestic activities such as spinning and sewing will also be demonstrated. So will everyday crafts and the skills necessary to repair and replace equipment, such as leather- and woodworking. Tours of Rockingham will also be offered, and the museum store will be open for shopping. Light refreshments will be available. The event will be free, though donations will be welcomed! Outwater's Militia is a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution and the Continental Line. For more information about it, go to www.outwatersmilitia.org. Rockingham is located on the Millstone Valley Scenic/Historic Corridor at 84 Laurel Avenue (Rte. 603) in Franklin Township, 1 mile north of Rte. 27 in Kingston and 1 mile south of Rte. 518 in Rocky Hill. For further information, please call 609-683-7132 or go to www.rockingham.net. |
