| April 21: (Saturday) ![]() | Arbor Day Celebration: This Arbor Day celebration welcomes all to the Mapleton Preserve, the former home of Princeton Nurseries from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Join Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands for both a guided tour of the Preserve and the official dedication of interpretive signs for the site. These new signs were developed by Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands, with the assistance of a project grant funded by the New Jersey Historical Commission. The interpretive panels will help visitors understand the historic and cultural significance of the site. The celebration continues with FPNL's traditional annual tree planting and demonstration. Light refreshments will follow and all visitors will receive FREE "baby trees" to take home and plant. The event, sponsored by the Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands will be held at the Mapleton Preserve, 145 Mapleton Road in Kingston. It is FREE and open to all. This "Touch of Dutch" event pays homage to the house's original 1730 Dutch construction AND it's c. 1805 Federal-style addition. We will have some re-enactors from Outwater's Militia, hearthside cooking demonstrations, period music, and 17th and 18th century antiques on display. Refreshments will be available There is no admission charge but a parking donation will be gratefully accepted.

Donald Peck, president of the Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance, presents an unusual talk on Richard Stockton. Mr. Peck will talk about those events of the summer and fall of 1776 leading up to the capture of Mr. Stockton, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his renunciation of his oath of allegiance to the new United States. Mr. Peck will explore this tragedy and recount the psychic experiences he had with the renowned psychic, Jane Doherty, of Richard Stockton and others at Stockton’s residence, Morven in Princeton, New Jersey.
Tickets are $10 each and may be reserved by calling 732-748-7657.

Jim Walton has served as Executive Director of the Watershed Association since April 2005. Jim serves as a go-to resource for government officials and community leaders on how to best protect clean water and the environment throughout the region. Prior to joining the Watershed Association, Jim was director of the refuges and wildlife program for the Wilderness Society in Washington D.C. For 10 years he represented the Society on issues relating to the National Wildlife Refuge System, Alaska public lands, endangered species, and other wildlife matters. He spent five years as a wildlife specialist at the National Audubon Society before joining the Wilderness Society. Jim has a biology degree from Princeton University and a Master of Environmental Studies from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
